A Dhaka court today ordered Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) for further investigation of the death of silver screen actor Shahriar Chowdhury Imon popularly known as Salman Shah.

Metropolitan Magistrate Laskar Sohel Rana passed the order after Salman's mother Nilufar Chowdhury filed a no-confidence petition against an order for a further investigation into the murder by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab).

On February 10 last year, Metropolitan Magistrate Zahangir Hossain ordered the Rab for further investigation. But Salman’s mother again filed a revision petition seeking a stay on the order with no-confidence.

Later on August 25 this year, Judge Imrul Kayes of the Special Judge Court-6 stayed the order of the magistrate and asked the chief metropolitan magistrate to take an initiative for further investigation.

On July 9 of 2014, another Metropolitan Magistrate Imdadul Haque submitted the probe report which found no indication of murder and reported that the actor had committed suicide at his Eskaton residence on September 6, 1996.

His father, Kamaruddin Chowdhury, had filed an unnatural death case which he later turned into a murder case.
