Potential benefits of the motor vehicle agreement signed among the four South Asian nations can be maximised through developing a national multimodal comprehensive connectivity strategy, Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) said today.

The civil society think-tank also called upon the government to build strong coordination among different ministries to materialise the gain to be arisen from an integrated sub-region.

The CPD told this at a seminar on "Trade facilitation in South Asia through transport connectivity" at the Brac Inn in Dhaka with Prof Rehman Sobhan in the chair.

Prof Mustafizur Rahman, executive director of CPD, made a presentation on the transport connectivity and operationalising the motor vehicle agreements (MVA) at the programme.

Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal signed the deal on June 15 that would allow seamless movement of people, cargo and personal vehicles across the countries within the next few years.
