Cumilla murder: Writ seeks security for judges
A day after an accused was stabbed to death by another in a courtroom in Cumilla, a Supreme Court lawyer today filed a writ petition with the High Court demanding measures to ensure security of judges as well as courts across the country.
Advocate Ishrat Hasan submitted the petition seeking directives from the High Court on the authorities concerned of the government to take proper security measures for the judges and the courts.
In the petition, Advocate Ishrat said her husband is a judge and she is concerned with her husband’s security following yesterday’s incident.
She prayed to the court to pass necessary order on this issue.
The High Court may hold hearing on the petition tomorrow.
A murder accused was stabbed to death by another right before a judge and police members inside a packed courtroom in Cumilla yesterday.
Such an incident exposed the lack of security at the court, lawyers said after the murder.
