Dec 9 Int’l Anti-Corruption Day: Cabinet

The cabinet on Monday approved two proposals for observing the 9th December as the International Anti-Corruption Day while 6th April as the International Sports Day.



The approval was given at the regular weekly meeting of the cabinet held at Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.



Briefing reporters after the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam said the proposals were separately proposed by the Cabinet Division and the Ministry of Youth and Sports respectively.



He said the Cabinet also approved proposals for the inclusion of the two Days in the 'Kha' category of the gazette notification of the Cabinet Division regarding observation of various National and International members Days.



The Cabinet meeting also endorsed the draft of an agreement to be signed between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka on visa exemption of diplomatic and official passport holders.



The Cabinet was apprised about the recent of visits of various Bangladesh delegations to various countries to attend various crucial meetings.



At the outset of the meeting, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled 71 commemorative postage stamps and the First Day covers with photos of genocide and war crimes of the Pakistani Army and their local collaborators carried out during the Liberation War in 1971.



On the occasion, a short video documentary on the genocide and war crimes of the Pakistani occupation forces and their local collaborators was also displayed.
