Execution after full verdict: AG
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said the government will start a process for executing war criminal Mir Quasem Ali after receiving the full order of the Supreme Court.
The attorney general said this at a press briefing at the Supreme Court premises this morning, minutes after the court dismissed a petition of Mir Quasem Ali that sought review against death for war crimes.
After getting the order of the judgment, the jail authorities will inform Mir Quasem Ali and ask him whether he will seek mercy from the president, he said.
He said if Mir Quasem Ali wants to seek presidential mercy, his mercy application will be sent to the president and then the process for execution will be halted until the president gives a decision.
If Mir Quasem Ali does not seek presidential mercy or the president rejects his mercy petition, the government can execute him anytime, he said.
The top law officer of the country said they are satisfied with the SC order on Mir Quasem Ali as the expectation and desire of the nation have been fulfilled through the judgment.
