‘Financier’ of Nat’l Mourning Day attack plot held
Law enforcers claimed to have arrested a woman for financing a plan to carry out an attack on the crowd paying homage to Bangabandhu on National Mourning Day at Dhanmondi 32 in the capital last year.
Humayra alias Nabila, a member of “Neo JMB”, was arrested from the capital’s Siddheshwari area last night, said Mohibul Islam Khan, deputy commissioner of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
According to the CTTC officials, Humayra was in-charge of a sister wing of the “Neo JMB”. Her husband Tanvir Yasir Karim also had involvement into the attack plot. He is now behind bars, CTTC DC Mohibul said.
On August 15 last year, a suspected suicide bomber of “Neo JMB” was killed during an anti-militancy operation at Hotel Olio International in Panthapath area.
The counter-terrorism officials claimed that the suicide bomber had planned to carry out an attack on the crowd paying homage to Bangabandhu on National Mourning Day at Dhanmondi 32.
