Flights at Dhaka airport disrupted for weather
Flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka, faced a snag due to squally weather today and was halted for some time, airport sources say.
Inbound and outbound flights were stopped at 4:57pm when squally winds started blowing, an official at the airport’s air traffic control told The Daily Star on condition of anonymity.
Some flights of Qatar Airways, Emirates Airlines, Regent Airways and Singapore Airways were scheduled to land at that time. The landing of those flights was delayed and they were asked to hover.
Forty minutes after the halt, the operation resumed at the airport around 5:37pm, Mohammad Joynal, an officer of Dhaka airport, updated The Daily Star this evening.
The flights which were hovering landed safely after the weather returned to normal, sources say.
