4 boys drown in Chandpur pond

Police recovered bodies of four boys from a pond in Hajiganj municipality of Chandpur today, a day after they went missing in the area.

The deceased are: as Rahul, 13, son of Md Wasim, Shamim, 11, Raihan, 11, son of Ahsan Habib, and Liyon, 13.

The bodies were seen floating in the pond waters at Ward no 11, our Chandpur correspondent reports quoting Shukku Mia, ward councilor.

The deceased used to work as hawkers at Hajiganj Bazar, he said.

All the four bodies were recovered and later were handed over to the boys' relatives without any postmortem, said Jabedul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hajiganj Police Station.

Yesterday, the boys went to bathe in the pond, the correspondent said quoting locals.
