Gazette on judges’ conduct next week: Law minister
The gazette notification on the disciplinary rules for the lower court judges might be issued next week, Law Minister Anisul Huq said today.
“So far I know the disciplinary rules have been forwarded to the president from the prime minister office on Thursday. I hope the gazette will be published next week,” Anisul Huq said.
The law minister was talking to reporters after attending the 32nd annual conference of Bangladesh Ain Samity at Dhaka University’s Science Annex Bhaban.
The law ministry has finalised the disciplinary rules for lower court judges in line with the article 116 of the constitution, which allows the president to control their postings, promotions and leaves in consultation with the Supreme Court.
The ministry on November 30 sent the rules to the prime minister office to forward it to the president for its approval, a source to the law ministry said.
Meanwhile, the SC on December 3 gave time to the government till December 10 for issuing the gazette notification on the disciplinary rules.
The apex court also deferred the hearing till December 10 on Masdar Hossain case, known as the judiciary separation case, in which the issuance of the gazette notification on the disciplinary rules is linked.
The SC so far has given time to the government for 27 times for issuing the gazette notification.
