'Derogatory remarks' on PM: Imran gets bail
A Dhaka court today granted bail to Gonojagoron Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarkar and cultural activist Sanatan Ullash in a defamation case filed for their alleged derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Metropolitan Magistrate S M Masud Zaman passed the order after the duo surrendered before the court seeking bail in the case.
When a car carrying Imran H Sarkar was leaving the court premises, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders of Jagannath University unit pelted eggs and bricks on the vehicle in front of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
Later, police brought the situation under control, our court correspondent reports from the spot.
BCL leader Golam Rabbani filed the case against them on May 31. According to the case statement, Imran and Sanatan chanted defamatory slogans against the prime minister on May 27 over the removal of the statue of Lady Justice from the Supreme Court premises.
