Homebound people can bring 8 mobile sets from abroad

Homebound individuals can bring eight mobile handsets from abroad even without any prior permission, which is currently restricted at five devices.

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission today issued a notice in this regard which will be effective from January 1 next year, a BTRC top official told The Daily Star.

The telecom regulator took the decision after a recommendation came from the customs authority, said the official.

Of the eight handsets, two handsets would be tax free while taxes would be imposed on rest handsets, the official said.
