Indian army chief leaves Dhaka
Indian Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat left Dhaka this afternoon following a three-day maiden visit to Bangladesh.
Maj Gen Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan, logistics area commander of Bangladesh Army, saw the Indian army chief and the delegation off, reads a press release of the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Gen Rawat paid the visit responding to an invitation of Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh Army Gen Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq as part of the ongoing high-level exchange between the armed forces of the two neighbouring countries.
During the three-day visit, the Indian Army chief met President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and chiefs of the armed forces.
Apart from this, the Indian delegation also visited some historical places where war took place during the country's Liberation War in 1971. He also visited some military tents at the same time.
Gen Rawat, accompanied by his wife Madhulika Rawat and a four-member delegation, arrived here by a special aircraft of India on March 31.
