Injured Toriqul being brought to Dhaka

Quota reform leader Toriqul Islam, who was brutally beaten up by BCL men on July 2, is being brought to Dhaka from Rajshahi today for better treatment.

A master's student at Rajshahi University, Toriqul was forced to leave Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on July 5, four days after he was attacked with a hammer, alleged his family members.

Activists of Chhatra League, pro-Awami League student body, attacked Toriqul when he was going to bring out a pre-scheduled procession with national flags.

An ambulance with Toriqul left Rajshahi around 10:00am accompanied by some of his friends, reports our Rajshahi correspondent.

After he was forced to leave the govt hospital, Toriqul was admitted to a private hospital, at the Royal Hospital in Rajshahi city.

As Toriqul was not getting proper treatment at the Royal Hospital, he is being brought to Dhaka, the correspondent reports quoting his friend Motuir Rahman.

His sister Fatima Begum yesterday said they had an online consultation with a doctor, who saw his x-ray and other reports and recommended an immediate surgery.
