ICT-1 chairman to be appointed soon: Minister

Law Minister Anisul Huq said today that the chairman of International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) will be appointed very soon.

The minister said this while talking to The Daily Star this afternoon. “Of course the chairman of the ICT will be appointed,” he said.

He, however, did not say who will be appointed as the chairman, and when the appointment will be made.

Replying to a question on whether he has consulted with the Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha about the appointment of the ICT-1 chairman, Anisul Huq said, “I will not say anything about this at this moment.”  

The post fell vacant after its chairman Justice Anwarul Haque passed away on Thursday.
