Jamaat ameer Maqbul remanded again
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Maqbul Ahmad was shown arrested today and remanded for three days in an arson case filed with Motijheel Police Station.
Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury passed the order after investigation officer Sub-Inspector Anwar Hossain of Detective Branch of police submitted an application for showing him arrested in the case.
The IO also prayed for a 10-day remand for quizzing him about the incident.
In the forwarding report, the IO said Maqbul was involved with the incident of torching a vehicle by throwing petrol. So he needs to be remanded to know about intention of their activities, he said.
According to the case statement, it was alleged that a group of BNP-led-20-party alliance leaders and activists including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Jamaat Ameer Maqbul Ahmad torched a vehicle by throwing petrol in front of Baitul Mamur Jame Masjid at AGB Colony in Mojheel area about 1:45pm on January 4 of 2015.
Following the incident, a case was filed against 81 including Fakhrul and Maqbul with Motijheel Police Station.
Earlier on October 10, Maqbul Ahmad was placed on a ten-day remand in connection with two cases filed with Kadamtoli Police Station for creating anarchy among people during Durga Puja and Asurah and hatching plot to topple the government.
Nine top Jamaat leaders including Maqbul were detained in Dhaka’s Uttara on the night of October 9 for holding a secret meeting there to carry out subversive activities.
