Japanese foreign minister meets Mahmood Ali in city

Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono met his Bangladeshi counterpart AH Mahmood Ali at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka this morning.

The meeting started at 8:00 am and ended at 8:45 am, said Khaleda Begum, public relations officer of the Foreign Ministry.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam, Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque and Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Hiroyasu Izumi were present during the meet.

However, no briefing was held after the meeting.

The Foreign Ministers of Germany, Sweden, Japan and the European Union High Representative are going to visit the makeshift Rohingya camps of Cox's Bazar district today when Bangladeshi Foreign Minister will accompany them.

Later, High Representative of the EU Federica Mogherini and the two Foreign Ministers -- Sigmar Gabriel of Germany and Margot Wallström of Sweden -- will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at 5:30 pm, 6:00 pm and 6:30 pm respectively, said Khaleda Begum.
