JMB militant of Sarwar-Tamim group held: Rab

Law enforcers today claimed arrest of a member of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Narayanganj’s Rupganj.

The arrestee has been identified as Hafez Maolana Ishahak, 50, a cloth merchant.

Md Shakil Ahmed, an additional superintendent of police and also an official of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) 11, said the arrestee admitted of being a member of JMB’s Sarwar-Tamim group.

“A team of RAB-11 raided Ishahak’s shop and arrested him from his house in Rupganj around 11:30pm last night,” the ASP said.

Rab also recovered huge number of religiously inciting books and leaflets from Ishahak’s shop.

During primary interrogation, Ishahak also admitted to giving financial support to the militants.
