Kabi Nazrul teacher suspended over ‘sexual harassment’
A teacher of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University in Mymensingh was suspended today over allegations of sexually harassing of three female colleagues.
Three teachers of theatre and performance studies department submitted a written complaint against Mohammad Ruhul Amin, an assistant professor of the department.
Following their allegations, the teacher was temporarily suspended at an emergency meeting held today with the Vice-chancellor Prof Dr AHM Mustafizur Rahman in the chair, Md Humayun Kabir, registrar of the university, told our local correspondent.
A three-member probe body was also formed to investigate into the incident. The body was asked to submit its report within 15 working days, said the registrar.
In their complaint, the female teachers alleged that Amin used to hurl abusive comments to them and also tried to get inappropriately close.
Contacted, the teacher said, the allegations were brought against him in a bid to humiliate him.
