Khowai swells further, Dhalai subsides

Flood in Moulvibazar and Habiganj districts of Sylhet division remained largely unchanged, with danger of expanding further with monsoon rain.

Last reported from on the ground, there was no news of fresh inundations across Kulaura and Kamalganjupazilas in Moulvibazarand Habiganj town.

As a relief, Dhalai had subsided and was flowing below the danger mark in Dhalai bridge point in Kamalganj around 11:00am today, said Partha Shankar Chakraborty, executive engineer of Water Development Board (WDB) in the upazila.

The Khowai had swelled further and was flowing 225cm above the danger level in town, according to Touhidul Islam, local executive engineer of WDB.

Also, the Manu had subsided too, now flowing 125cm above the danger mark until last reported, according to Partho Shankar Chakraborty.

According to the two officials, the flood will worsen if the rainfall continues.

The Khowai had swelled further and was flowing 225cm above the danger level in town, according to Touhidul Islam, local executive engineer of WDB.

Also, the Manu had subsided too, now flowing 125cm above the danger mark until last reported, according to Partho Shankar Chakraborty.

According to the two officials, the flood will worsen if the rainfall continues.
