Kurigram DC may be withdrawn: state minister for public admin
The deputy commissioner of Kurigram may be withdrawn as evidence of irregularities were found against her, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain has said.
Quoting the state minister, Public Relations Officer of his ministry Abdullah Shibli Sadiq today told The Daily Star that the government has decided to file divisional case against Kurigram DC Sultana Pervin.
Process has started to take administrative action against the DC, Abdullah said.
"We have taken a number of measures. Ariful Islam has secured bail. He walks out of jail now," he added.
The development came a day after a mobile court under a taskforce of Kurigram district administration sentenced Ariful to one-year imprisonment on charges of possessing narcotics.
Ariful's wife Mansarina Mitu claimed that her husband was innocent and that he became "a victim of vindictiveness by the district's deputy commissioner for writing against irregularities and corruption".
