Kushtia BCL organising secy expelled for assaulting doctor

Kushtia unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League today expelled its organising secretary for allegedly assaulting an intern doctor of Kushtia General Hospital yesterday.

Shah Jaman Bin Shaheed, organising secretary of BCL (Kushtia unit), allegedly beat up the female intern during an altercation that broke out at the hospital following the death of his uncle last evening, our Kushtia correspondent reports quoting the unit’s Chhatra League Secretary Saad Ahmed.

Bashir Ahmed, 60, who was admitted to the hospital with respiratory ailments, died at the hospital around 4:00pm. Following his death, his family members along with Shah Jaman Bin Shaheed and a few others reached the hospital and broke into a fight.

At one point of the altercation, Shah Jaman Bin Shaheed physically assaulted the intern, our correspondent reports quoting Kushtia Superintendent of Police ASM Mehedi.

Two persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement with the assault.

Soon after the incident, the doctors went on a strike yesterday but they withdrew it later.
