UP member killed in Khulna AL factional clash
A union parishad member was killed and four people, including two women, were injured in a factional clash of Awami League at Terokhada upazila of Khulna this morning.
The deceased was identified as Golam Maula, 50, a member of Terokhada Sadar union parishad and president of 5 No ward AL.
Salequzzaman, officer-in-charge of Terokhada Police Station, said there had been a longstanding dispute between Golam Maula and local Krishak League leader Zilu Miah.
Following the enmity, Zilu locked into an altercation with Golam Maula around 9:00 am at Atalia village in the upazila.
At one stage, supporters of the two groups locked into a fierce clash when a chase and counter chase took place, leaving five, including Maula, critically injured.
The injured were rushed to Terokhada Health Complex where Maula succumbed to his injuries around 10:30am.
Victim's son Khalid Sheikh claimed that Zilu Miah attacked his father and hacked him to death with a sharp weapon.
