Mild heat wave sweeping over country’s southern parts
Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in a weather forecast today said a mild heat wave is sweeping over the regions of Khulna, Satkhira and Jessore and it is likely to abate in 24 hours as of 9:00am tomorrow.
“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, Sylhet and Dhaka divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions during the period,” the forecast added.
Moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely to occur at places over Barisal and Chittagong divisions while day and night temperature may fall by 1-3 degrees Celsius over the country during the period.
The maximum temperature was recorded 36.5 degrees Celsius yesterday at Satkhira in Khulna division and today’s minimum temperature 24.5 degrees Celsius at Srimangal in Sylhet division.
The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 56mm at Khepupara in Barisal division.
The sun will set at 6:45pm today and rise at 5:10am tomorrow in the capital.
