Road crash kills 3 of a family

Three of a family were killed and several others injured when a microbus crashed into a tree in Mymensingh early yesterday.

Abdul Hamid, 65, his wife Sahara Khatun, 55, and son Shafiqul Islam, 35, of Gaibandha's Phulchhari upazila died at the scene.

Hamid's two other children Mohammad Noor Uddin, 27, and Fatema Akhter, 25, and driver of the vehicle Kawser Ahmed, 30, were injured and admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, said Shah Kamal Akanda, officer-in-charge of detective branch of police in the district.

Injuries of Noor and Fatema were serious, he said quoting doctors.

The family was going to Dhaka from Gaibandha for Sahara's treatment as she had suffered a stroke recently.

Hamid was a former union parishad member.

Police handed the bodies over to family members.
