2 killed in N’ganj road crash

Two persons were killed and one other was injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Narayanganj early today.

The incident took place around 1:30am at Barpa area of Rupganj upazila when a motorcycle was hit by a truck and then another truck coming from opposite direction ran over its riders, leaving two of them dead on the spot and one other injured, our Narayanganj correspondent reports quoting police.

The deceased were identified Hridoy Gazi, 22, and Sharmin Akter, 17, while the injured was Akhi Akhter, 16, all were the motorbike’s riders, said Md Kaium, officer-in-charge of Kanchpur Highway Police outpost.

The victims were returning to Dhaka from Narsingdi after attending a cultural programme, the OC also said.

The second truck fled the scene immediately after the accident, the OC said, adding that police seized the first truck but its driver and helper managed to escape.

The injured has been admitted to a local hospital in Rupganj, the police official said.

The bodies of the deceased are kept at the police outpost, the OC added.
