Nasim demands TIB apology for report on parliament
Health Minister Mohammad Nasim today blasted Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) and demanded that the organisation apologise for its statements on the parliament and elections.
"If TIB doesn't apologise, legal action will be taken against the organisation," he said while talking to reporters after a meeting of the partners of Awami League-led 14-party alliance at AL President Sheikh Hasina's Dhanmondi office in Dhaka.
TIB unveiled a report on Sunday based on the parliament's second to sixth session from June 2014 to July this year that the current parliament has not been able to function effectively. Terming the main opposition Jatiya Party as “B-team of the government”, the study said JP failed to play its due role in the parliament.
Nasim, also a presidium member of the ruling party, questioned the TIB's authority in making remarks about the parliament and elections.
Targeting TIB's financial records, the AL leader called upon the foreign ministry to investigate the sources of the funding.
