‘New arrangement’ for SSC exams from next year
The Education Ministry has taken initiative to hold Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations with new question paper pattern and in a “new arrangement” from the next year.
The decision was taken at an inter-ministry meeting at the Secretariat today.
The new arrangement for holding the SSC exams from 2019 will be decided through discussion, said Sohorab Hossain, secretary of Secondary and Higher Secondary education division of the ministry, told reporters after the meeting.
“We are hoping to hold SSC exams in a new arrangement from next year. Everyone present at the meeting agreed on preparing a question bank for the exams,” he said.
The meeting was convened in the light of recent spree of SSC questions leak that has been highly criticised and termed a failure by the government to hold the public examination fairly.
On asked whether multiple-choice questions will remain in the exams, the secretary said he had personally been suggesting withdrawal of MCQs from the exam questions.
Now that the prime minister has spoken in this regard, MCQs will be withdrawn in a process, he said.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Mostafa Jabbar were present at the meeting along with secretaries and high officials of different ministries and concerned organisations.
