100 workers sick after eating Gazipur factory food
At least 100 workers of a readymade garments factory fell sick and were hospitalised after eating the food provided to them in Gazipur's Kashimpur.
The sick workers of Turag Garments & Hosiery Mills Ltd were rushed to a local hospital with symptoms of vomiting, reports our Savar correspondent.
Some of the workers felt sick after having the tiffin at 8:00pm yesterday and the others became ill in the morning, said Md Selim Reza, manager (HR and Admin) of the factory.
"We have been giving them banana, biscuit and egg for years", he added.
Later, the authorities were compelled to shut down the factory for today following the situation. About 4200 workers work in the factory.
Additional police forces were deployed around the factory to avoid any untoward incidents, Abul Khair, director of Gazipur Industrial Police, said.
