2 accused of Narsingdi double murder killed in ‘gunfight’
Two accused of a double murder case were killed and three others were injured in a "gunfight" in Narsingdi Sadar early today.
The deceased were identified as Jahirul Islam, 25, and Rakib, 24, our Narsingdi correspondent reports quoting Golam Mostafa, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station of the district.
The "gunfight" took place in Nagoriakandi area around 4:00am when police acting on a tip-off conducted a raid to nab the accused in the killing case.
During the "gunfight", Jahirul, Rakib, Hosen, Al-Amin and Manirul Islam were injured, OC Mostafa said.
They were rushed to the district's general hospital where doctors declared Jahirul dead. Later the other four were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
After few hours at DMCH, Rakib succumbed to his injuries this morning.
A gang of 10 to 12 criminals yesterday allegedly killed one Khokon Khandker, 32, and Arif Khandker, 33, as they protested them from threatening their neighbour Rafiqul Islam in the area.
Selim Khandaker, brother of Khokon, later filed a murder case accusing 14 people including the five men who made victims of the "gunfight" today.
