2 die inhaling toxic gas in septic tank in Magura

Two persons died after inhaling toxic gas inside a septic tank in Sreepur upazila of Magura this morning. 

The victims were identified as Palash Roy, 27,and Monirul Islam, 26,of Tupipara village in the upazila, reports our Jhenidah correspondent.

The incident took place around 9:30am when construction worker Palash fell inside the septic tank of an under-construction building owned by Rubel Mollah of the area, said Parvej Hossain, an assistant sub-inspector of Magura Police Station.

Monirul, a microbus driver, went down inside the tank using a ladder in order to rescue Palash, the ASI said.

“But they both became ill inhaling the toxic gas inside the tank,”ASI Parvej also said.

Later, officials of Magura Fire Service and Civil Defence rescued Palash and Monirul and took them to Magura 250 Bed Hospital where doctors declared them dead, he added.
