2 ‘drug peddlers’ killed in Feni ‘gunfight’

Two suspected drug peddlers were killed in a “gunfight” with Rapid Action Battalion on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Feni Sadar upazila early today.  

Rab raided an abandoned house in Fatehpur rail gate area in the wee hours today. Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the suspected drug peddlers opened fire targeting the elite force members.

The Rab members also shot back in self defence, triggering a “gunfight”, a correspondent from Feni reports quoting Rab-7’s Deputy Director Squadron Leader Safayat Jamil Fahim.

After the “gun battle”, Rab members recovered the bodies of two alleged drug peddlers from the spot, the officer said.

The deceased were identified as Rubel Sarker, 28, and Md Liton, 25, both hailing from Debidwar upazila of Cumilla, he added.

A foreign pistol, a locally-made light gun and 25,000 yaba tablets were recovered from hotpot at he scene, the Rab official said.
