2 Indian Sikhs attacked in Ctg
Two Indian Sikhs were stabbed as masked men attacked them and allegedly looted Tk 50,000 from their possession in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong.
Injured Bhupindor Singh, 68, and Mul Chand Singh, 63, were given primary treatment at a local hospital, said Iftekhar Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sitakunda police station.
Later, they reached Dhaka with police escort, the OC said.
Law enforcers detained two persons for their alleged involvement with the incident, our Chittagong correspondent reports quoting the OC.
Police said a group of Sikhs were returning to Dhaka in four microbuses after visiting a temple in Chittagong.
But the driver of one of the vehicles, which was carrying Bhupindor and Mul Chand, stopped the vehicle after its bumper got damaged at Lunachhara area of Sitakunda.
"Suddenly 10-12 masked men swooped on them with machetes and sticks and looted Tk 50,000 from them," Iftekhar told The Daily Star.
Bhupindor and Mul Chand suffered injuries in left hand and right leg respectively, the police official said.
The microbus driver, Ashim Kumar Malakar, filed a case with the police station.
