2 robbers killed in Feni gunfight, police say

Two robbers were killed during a gunfight between two gangs of robbers in Feni's Songazi upazila early today, police said.

The deceased, aged between 25 to 30 years, could not be identified immediately, our local correspondent reports quoting Md Saifuddin, sub-inspector (SI) of Sonagazi Model Police Station.

On a tip-off that a gunfight was taking place between two groups of robbers, a team of police raided Uttar Mangalkandi village in the early hours of today, the SI said.

Sensing police presence, the criminals managed to flee the place, leaving two of their cohorts behind, the police official added.

Later, police found the duo with bullet injuries and took them to Sonagazi Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead.

The bodies were sent to Feni Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Two locally-made firearms and several bullets were recovered from the spot, said police.
