2 shown arrested in blogger Ananta killing case
Two members of Ansarullah Bangla Team including a Bangladesh-born UK citizen were shown arrested today in blogger Ananta Bijoy Das killing case.
Later, Criminal Investigation Department produced the UK citizen, Touhidur Rahman and Aminul Mallick, before a Sylhet court and sought 15 days' remand for them, our Moulvibazar correspondent reports quoting police.
Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Shahedul Karim fixed September 16 for hearing the remand prayer.
Blogger Ananta Bijoy Das was hacked to death by a group of masked men in Sylhet city, in a continuation of attacks on free thinkers.
Law enforcers detained five people so far in the killing case.
The other detainees are Ariful Islam, Zakirul Prokash and Sadeque Ali Mithu.
Rapid Action Battalion arrested Tauhidur and Aminul in this connection from Dhaka on August 16.
Rab claimed that Touhidur employed five Ansarullah members to carry out the killing missions of secularist bloggers Avijit Roy and Ananta.
He was given the task by Abul Bashar, younger brother of Ansarullah chief Jasimuddin Rahmani.
