3 killed as truck overturns in Gazipur

Three pedestrians were killed and three others injured as a truck overturned on Dhaka- Mymensingh highway in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur last night.

The deceased -- Saiful Islam, 25, Jahangir Hossain, 25, and Badsha Miah 19, -- hailed from different upazilas of the district, reports our Gazipur correspondent quoting police.

Manjur Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Maona Highway Police Station, said three people were killed and three other injured when a truck turned turtle and fell on them in Gorgoria Master Bari area around 11:00pm yesterday.

The truck driver Badsha Sheikh was arrested from the spot and the vehicle was also seized, the OC said.

The injured, whose identities could not be ascertained immediately, were undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

The bodies were sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College morgue for autopsy.
