Police arrested five people in Parsaoil area under Singra upazila of the district on Sunday night on charge of killing freedom fighter Nani Gopal Kundu and his wife.

The arrestees are Mantaz Ali, 50, Makbul Hossain, 48, Shamsul Haque, 37, Abdul Khaleque, 35, and Emdadul Haque Kalu, 40, of Parsaoil village.

Later, police produced the five before a Natore court with a seven-day remand prayer, Motaleb Hossain, officer-in-charge of Singra Police Station said, adding that Senior Judicial Magistrate Israt Jahan Munni yesterday granted three days' remand.

Criminals strangled Nani Gopal, 75, and his wife Chitta Rani Kundu, 65, of the village over previous enmity at around 3:00am on Sunday.
