Five people were killed and 10 injured as a bus collided with a truck parked beside the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Chauddagram upazila of Cumilla early today.
The deceased are Aslam Mollah, 50, Chaina Hizra, 50, Anwar Hossain, 45, Hasi Begum, 40, Salam Mia, 35. All of them are from Khulna.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. The accident took place when a Chattogram-bound bus from Khulna hit a truck stationed beside the highway at Gangra around 5:30am, Manjur Alam, in-charge of Miahbazar Highway Police outpost, told our Cumilla correspondent.
All of them died on the spot, he said.
The injured were taken to Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex.
Both the drivers went into hiding soon after the accident.
