5 ‘traffickers’ arrested in Cox’s Bazar
Law enforcers today claimed arrest of five human traffickers from Cox's Bazar in purview of the worldwide concern over the illegal business.
The arrestees were identified as Noor Hafez, involved with money transfer, Hasan Sharif, a Dhaka-based trafficker, Kalamiah, Shamsul, and Shafi.
A Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) team arrested Noor and Hasan from Kodaibari village of Sadar upazila last midnight, said Maj Ziaur Rahman, commanding officer of RAB-7.
"Two lakh Taka and nine mobile phones were seized from them."
Teknaf police arrested the three others, said to be listed traffickers according to Ataur Rahman Khandakar, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station, from Leda village around 9:45am, our Cox's Bazar correspondent reports.
"They will be produced at court," the OC said.
