An accused rapist has been killed in an alleged gunfight in Chattogram’s Lohagara upazila.

The deceased was identified as Safiul, 25, teacher of a coaching centre in North Amirabad, our local staff correspondent reports quoting law officials.

Rapid Action Battalion-7 (Rab) Assistant Director (media) Mashkur Rahman said, a “gunfight” broke out between a Rab patrol team and suspected criminals early today.

After the “gunfight” subsided, Rab found the body of Saiful lying on the spot.

Rab officer Mashkur said, Saiful was accused in a rape case. He allegedly raped a student of his coaching centre on a few days ago on April 12.

Further details of the “gunfight” could not be known yet.
