AL MP for MPO as per lawmakers’ recommendation
Awami League Lawmaker Golam Faruk Khandakar Prince today called upon the government to bring educational institutions under monthly payment order on the basis of the lawmakers’ recommendations instead of the MPO policy.
Golam Faruk Khandakar Prince from Pabna-5 in a supplementary question made the demand during the first budget session of the 11th parliament.
MPs from treasury and opposition bench lauded Prince through thumping their desks at that time in support of the AL lawmaker.
“Enrollment of educational institutions under the MPO is our political commitment and thus it should be done on the basis of our recommendations,” Prince said while raising his supplementary question.
The AL MP said lawmakers submitted their recommendations to the education ministry on their choice 10 years ago but there is no headway in this regard.
In reply, Education Minister Dipu Moni said her government has formulated a policy on MPO and there is no scope to go beyond the policy regarding enrollment of educational institutions under MPO.
The minister, however, said MPO policy will not be followed strictly in case of educational institutions that are situated at char areas, hills and distant areas.
Dipu Moni recalled that the previous government did mismatch following favouritism instead of quality.
The Education Minister informed the House that the government will bring not more than 3,000 educational institutions under MPO this time.
