2 killed as picnic bus hits truck in Bagerhat
Two people were killed and four others injured as a picnic bus hit a stationery truck on Khulna-Bagerhat highway near Hazrat Khan Jahan Ali’s shrine in Bagerhat’s Sadar upazila early today.
Garib Ullah, 40, and Kibria, 22, were killed while Bachir, 40, Amirul Islam, 40, Russel, 25 and Ariful, 22, sustained injures in the road accident, our local correspondent reports quoting source of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
All the victims, residents at Tribeni village in Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah, met the accident around 5:30am when they were heading towards Sundarbans after a stopover at Hazrat Khan Jahan Ali shrine.
According to Sardar Masudur Rahman, deputy assistant director of Bagerhat Fire Service and Civil Defence, the picnic but hit the stationary truck, leaving one dead on the spot and injured four others.
Among the injured, Kibria and Bachhir were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Kibria dead, he said.
The rest injured are now undergoing treatment at Bagerhat Sadar Hospital, Rahman said.
