BSF kills Bangladeshi in Panchagarh

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) gunned down a Bangladeshi cattle trader along Ghagra border in Panchagarh Sadar upazila early today.

Samiul Haque, 35, son of Samij Uddin, was a resident of Shampara village of Haribhasa union, our Thakurgaon correspondent reports quoting Ariful Haque, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh battalion-18 of Panchagarh.

A group of four to five Bangladeshis were returning home with cattle from Jolpaiguri district of India's Paschimbanga state around 4:00am, the commanding officer said.

BSF troops of Singimari camp opened fire when they were entering Bangladesh through Ghagra border in Haribhasa union of the upazila, leaving Samiul injured on the spot.

Other cattle traders managed to take him to Bangladesh side, the CO said.

Samiul was rushed to the Rangpur Medical College and Hospital but he succumbed one hour later, he added.
