Cop dies by suicide at Barishal barrack

A police constable of Barishal Police Lines reportedly died by suicide in Barishal city this afternoon.

The deceased, Hridoy Saha, 20, son of Shukontho Saha of Bhola's Borhanuddin upazila, shot himself with his own revolver while on duty on the roof of the newly constructed police barrack, said Md Saiful Islam, superintendent of Barishal police.

A suicide note was recovered from the pocket of the deceased that said nobody was responsible for his death, the SP further said adding that in the letter the constable also asked for forgiveness from his younger brother.

Colleagues of the deceased rushed to the roof top of the police barrack after hearing a shot fired and took him to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH).

Doctors at the hospital declared the constable, who joined the force 18 months ago, dead. The body is kept at SBMCH morgue for autopsy.
