Dhaka-Sylhet rail link with Chattogram restored after 7hrs
Rail communication with Dhaka and Sylhet from Chattogram was restored around seven hours after suspension following derailment of an engine and three frontline compartments of Noakhali Express in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria early today.
The rail link was restored around 9:00am, our Brahmanbaria correspondent reports quoting railway officials.
Due to the derailment, passengers suffered as several trains including Turna Nishita Express, Udayan Express and Chattogram mail train got stuck at different rail stations.
The compartments derailed when a Dhaka-bound train left Shashidal Railway Station from Noakhali around 1:45am, the correspondent said quoting Md Delwar Hossain, loco-shed in-charge of Akhaura Railway Junction.
The recovery operation which started around 4:00am ended after seven hours, the official said.

Rail communication with Dhaka and Chattogram from Sylhet has been halted as the two wheels of a local mail train's compartment got off the track in Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar this morning.
Around two hours will be needed to restore the train service which was suspended due to the incident at 10:30am, our Moulvibazar correspondent reports quoting Moyebur Rahman, station master of Kulaura Railway Station.
