Driver, helper injured as truck falls into ditch

A trucker and his helper sustained injuries when their vehicle fell on a roadside ditch and got stuck in between two trees in Ashulia, on the outskirts of Dhaka, in the wee hours of today.

Driver Md Mozammel, 35, and his helper Mizanur Rahman, 24, of Barguna, were admitted to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor), popularly known as Pangu Hospital, in capital Dhaka.                                                                                            

The Dhaka-bound truck from Kurigram met the tragic accident at Panchaboti in Mirpur Beribadh around 5:00am, said Md Shafiqul Islam, senior station officer of Uttara Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Quoting the driver Shafiqul said that Mozammel fell asleep while he was driving the truck.

On information, firefighters rushed to the spot and rescued the duo from inside the truck after one hour, he said.
