‘Drug peddler’ held with yaba in Cox’s Bazar
Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard claimed detention of a drug peddler with 650 yaba tablets from Cox’s Bazar town last night.
Tipped off, a team of coastguards conducted a drive in Nuniachhara industrial area of Cox’s Bazar around 8:00pm yesterday and detained drug peddler Shafiullah, 55, with yaba pills, a press release said today.
The detainee was handed over to Cox’s Bazar police, the release added.
Besides, another team of coastguards conducted another drive at Dhansiddhir char in Mongla upazila of Bagerhat yesterday morning and arrested two alleged robbers – Hossain Sheikh, 28, and Rubel Sheikh, 21.
The coastguards seized two sharp weapons from possession of the suspected robbers.
The Coast Guard team also rescued three fishermen -- Shahjahan Sheikh, 58, Ojit Majumdar, 65, and Ashraf Sheikh, 55, from captivity of the robbers’ group “Rafiq Bahini,” added the release.
