Drug peddlers held with yaba inside shoes

Three including two women have been arrested in Mymensingh city who were carrying yaba tablets inside their shoes.

The arrestees are-Habibul Islam alias Asif, 30, Nasrin Akter, 40, and China Akter, 50, all locals, our Mymensingh correspondent reports.

Detectives raided Digarkanda area yesterday afternoon and arrested Asif, said Shah Kamal Akanda, officer-in-charge of local Detective Branch.

Police recovered 600 pieces of yaba tablets from his possession during the drive. He later divulged the names of two of his accomplices.

Later, police raided Digarkanda by-pass area and arrested the women and recovered 2,400 pieces of yaba tablets from their shoes, he added.

After interrogation, police produced them before a Mymensingh court this afternoon with a seven-day remand prayer in connection with a case filed with Kotwali Police Station, he said.

No hearing on the prayer was held and the accused were sent to jail, he further said.
