‘Drug smuggler’ arrested in Noakhali

A suspected drug smuggler has been held by the police in Noakhali's Charmatua union.

Abdul Shahid (40) was arrested during a raid conducted on a tip-off in Purba Charmotua Bazar area on Sunday night, said Inspector Thomas Barua of Sudharam Model Police Station.

"A firearm, ammunition, and 57 yaba tablets were found in his possession. A court sent him to jail this afternoon," the inspector said.

Case under arms and narcotics acts have been filed against Abdul, who was already facing five other cases filed with the police station, Inspector Thomas told The Daily Star.
