Edu ministry directs staff to fight dengue
Education ministry today issued circulars directing all its staff and officials across the country to take proper action in a bid to prevent the outbreak of dengue.
The ministry issued two separate circulars addressing all of its directorate, district and upazila level officials to take proper steps and raise awareness among the people to check the dengue menace across the country.
The circulars also directed the concerned people to take several actions including keeping offices, houses and surrounding areas clean by removing stagnant water as soon as possible and building awareness among the students in this regard.
Dengue has spread to 50 districts with a record of 1,096 patients having been diagnosed with the viral disease yesterday alone, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
This year, dengue took a severe turn with the highest number of deaths caused and people affected compared to previous years.
Three days ago, dengue cases were being reported from only 17 districts and the day before yesterday reports came in from five new districts.
So far, 39 people have died after being diagnosed with the disease while the government claims that eight people have died of dengue fever.
