Fire breaks out in Brahmanbaria train
A fire broke out in the Sylhet-bound Parabat Express train at Brahmanbaria Rail Station this morning.
No casualties were reported in the accident.
The blaze erupted in the power car of the train coming from Dhaka around 8:38am, Shakria Haider, manager of Brahmanbaria Fire Service Station, told our Brahmanbaria correspondent.
On information, firemen rushed to the spot and doused the flame after half an hour of frantic efforts, he said.
The rescuers managed to extinguish the flame before the fire reached other compartments, he said.
Train staffers suspect the fire originated from an oil leak.
The Parabat Express started from Dhaka around 6:30am, a passenger, Al-Amin Noyon, told The Daily Star.
“The power car caught fire. The passengers came out of the train immediately,” he said.
